UW-Madison Site License is now in effect.
ChemDraw Std (by CambridgeSoft) is a chemical structure drawing software available for MS Windows and Mac computer systems. The UW-Madison now owns a site license for this product. Read the information below to see if you are eligible to download and use this software for FREE!
Download
To download and install ChemDraw Std on your system, the following requirements must be met:
- One must be an enrolled student, or staff, or faculty at the UW-Madison (regardless of what department are you affiliated with). More specifically, you must have a valid email address ending with @x.wisc.edu, where x could be blank (e.g. janedoe@wisc.edu), or the name of the department you are associated with (e.g. johndoe@chem.wisc.edu).
- Alumni are not eligible for downloading and using the software.
- The current license is valid from 9/1/2007 to 9/29/2008, then it is to be renewed or the program is not usable. During this period, each eligible individual is given only one set of Serial No. and Registration Code (associated with your email address). Files created with this software can still be opened even after the license is expired.
- To download, go to the UW-Madison ChemDraw download site at CambridgeSoft; the web address is:

At the download site, one has to sign up to become a member and to provide one's official school email address. CambridgeSoft will validate the email address and send the Serial No. and Registration Code to the email address provided. - Check email for the Serial No. and Registration Code.
- With the software downloaded and the corresponding Serial No. and Registration Code, one is now ready to install the program. Note that both MS Windows and Mac OS versions are available for downloading.

License Renewal Information:
For your currently installed Chemdraw Std to continue working, the license needs renewal (reactivated). Activation will be required for individuals who choose to install the Chemdraw Std software for home, office or personal user. Follow the instructions below to reactivate your Chemdraw.
Instructions for PC (Windows) Users
To download the latest version, go to the http://chemstore.cambridgesoft.com/sitelicense.cfm?sid=34. You will be emailed a new serial number to install the software. After the installation, go to Help -> Activate Chemdraw to activate your software. The easiest way to activate is over the Internet
If users have misplaced their serial number, they can look it up by logging in on Cambridge Soft web site and clicking "View Serial Numbers & Expiration Dates for Your Downloads".
Instructions for Mac OS Users
To download the Mac software, go to: http://chemstore.cambridgesoft.com/sitelicense.cfm?sid=34.
You will be emailed a new registration code and serial number. The Mac software and serial number are included on the same download page and same email message as PC users, but are marked as Mac.
