Computer Center Web site Update

The Computer Center Web site, computing.chem.wisc.edu, has had some modifications to its navigation and organization. The Web site now features an easier to use drop-down navigation. Take a look and let us know if you have any comments or suggestions.

New Face at the Computer Center

Please join us in welcoming Alan Silver as our new Departmental Computer Systems Administrator. Alan will be filling the position previously held by Steve Barnet. Alan is originally from New York State and has 4-year-old twin boys. In his free time, he enjoys going to the farmer’s market and hiking in and camping at state parks. Alan previously worked at the Department of Biostatistics & Medical Informatics at the UW-Madison. Feel free to contact him at asilver at chem.wisc.edu or 3-4528.

Congratulations New Graduates!

Bohr Retirement and Replacement

As of June 1, 2006, Bohr has officially retired and has been replaced by nBohr (named for Niels Bohr). All data has been successfully transferred from Bohr to nBohr and all systems are now stable. nBohr is running Red Hat Enterprise Linux and has a dual core, Intel Xeon, 3 GHz processor with RAID1, 2GB of memory and a 250GB hard drive.
