Configuring Papercut client for printing to copy center (linux client)
Papercut is the name of the printer accounting solution the chemistry department will
be using. The accounting is done for the printers in the Copy Center in the chemistry
building. In order to print to those printers, you will need
- a chemistry email account to authenicate to the print server
- Download and install the papercut software (instructions below)
- Configure the print queues that you would like to print to (instructions below)

These instructions are for linux clients and involves 2 parts.

- Setting up the print queues to print to
Download and installing papercut software
Note: This will create a directory call linux in the directory you are in by default.
- From command line, run smbclient //printserver.chem.wisc.edu/pcclient. No password needed.
- type recurse
- type prompt
- type mget linux
- type quit
Setting up print queues
This may be a hodgepodge depending on which distribution you are using. The important thing you need to
know are the print queue URIs. They are as follows:
- ipp://printserver.chem.wisc.edu:631/printers/pc-3700-copy for the HP Color Laserjet 3700 in the copy center (normal paper)
- ipp://printserver.chem.wisc.edu:631/printers/pc-3700-copy-trans for the HP Color Laserjet 3700 in the copy center (transparency paper)
- ipp://printserver.chem.wisc.edu:631/printers/pc-5550-copy for the HP Color Laserjet 5550 in the copy center (normal paper)
- ipp://printserver.chem.wisc.edu:631/printers/pc-5550-copy-11x17 for the HP Color Laserjet 5550 in the copy center (11x17 paper)
- ipp://printserver.chem.wisc.edu:631/printers/pc-5550-copy-8x14 for the HP Color Laserjet 5550 in the copy center (8.5x14 paper)
- ipp://printserver.chem.wisc.edu:631/printers/pc-p3005-copy for the HP Laserjet P3005 (black and white) in the copy center
