Configuring Eudora (for mac) for LDAP address book lookups

This page contains instructions on how to configure Eudora to access the Chemistry LDAP server for directory service information (i.e. chemistry email addresses and phone numbers).

Instructions

  1. Click on the Eudora menu.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Within the 'Settings' window, click on Hosts.
  4. Enter the following within the 'Directory Services' section:
    • Ph/LDAP: ldap://ldap.chem.wisc.edu/ou=people,ou=core,dc=chem,dc=wisc,dc=edu?cn,mail,telephoneNumber,roomNumber
    • Place a check mark within the "Live" directory service queries selection
  5. Click OK to save your changes
This completes the configuration. To initiate an LDAP query:
  1. Click on the Window menu.
  2. Select Directory Services.
  3. Within the 'Directory Services' window, make sure Directory Services is selected. Then enter the text of your query (the name you want to search for) into the field marked Enter query and click on 'Lookup' button.
  4. Results will appear in the area below.
