Configuring Your E-mail Client
DoIT has recently started requiring SMTP Authentication. They do not support some of the clients used in this building, so we are offering our own SMTP server which can also do SMTP authentication. After configuring your client with these instructions, you should be able to send and receive Chemistry Department email from anywhere. If you have any problems, please contact comphelp at chem.wisc.edu.
Information about e-mail clients from DoIT
Please note: there previously were separate instructions for configuring your e-mail client to send and receive email from within and outside of the Chemistry Network. The issue that required seperate configurations has been resolved and the CCC is now using only one configuration. If you have problems sending and receiving your Chemistry Department e-mail using an ISP outside of the Chemistry or UW networks, please let us know.
Due to upcoming changes to the Chemistry e-mail system, it is strongly advised that you check to make sure you are connected to the right incoming mail server (mail.chem.wisc.edu)!
If you need instructions to determine if your current e-mail client is configured properly, please visit our Mail Server Checkup page.
