Configuring Your Client: Mail.app

This page contains instruction on how to setup the Mail.app email client to check your chemistry department email from within the Chemistry Building.

Instructions

1. Start Mail.app. In the menu, click File, then Add Account…

2. New Account

3. Enter mail.chem.wisc.edu as the incoming mail server.

4. Enter smtp.chem.wisc.edu as the outgoing mail server if it is not already there.

5. Click Done.



6. Click Mail, then Preferences...

7. Under the Accounts tab, select your account, and click the Server Settings button below Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)

8. Make sure Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is checked and change the server port to 587. Also be sure to set the authentication type to password and supply your chemistry email username and password.
